But only 4 percent of federal cancer research funding is earmarked to develop new treatments and cures for children battling this heartbreaking disease – an amount that is far below what is actually needed.

Save The Bay Coastal Clean Up Day
Saturday, September 21st at 9:30AM
MLK Jr Shoreline, Oakland

PCNC will continue the annual tradition of providing some spirited volunteers to join the Save the Bay cleanup event at the MLK Jr Shoreline in Oakland. The event will take place from 9:30am-12:30pm (note the half-hour shift later, relative to previous years). If it’s anything like the coastal cleanups before, it will feature background/instructions (provided by StB) and bananas/bagels (ditto) for the first 30 minutes, about 1.5-2 hours of cleanup, and a post-cleanup wrap-up where prizes are handed out for the most outlandish litter recovered. Then the Princeton crew will split off and enjoy sandwiches from Joaquin Deli (compliments of PCNC) at our traditional picnic spot overlooking the Bay.

We will have all the necessary equipment, including buckets, picking-poles, ladders, clippers, and crates with us.

We will cover equipment, paddle techniques, trip planning, on land transporting and maintenance and safety. We will develop your boat control as we paddle around the area and practice our new skills. All gear provided, recommended for ages 12+.
